Yeah us small business guys are in trouble.
Looks like some checks will be in the mail so that should help those who are paycheck to paycheck.

Gov. Northam has indicated that the penalty on businesses for having employees file for unemployment will be waived. That's a really big deal because the one time that I had an employee draw $1190 in unemployment benefits, they penalized me for 5 years costing $4500 total. This is just one of the many reasons that I was willing to let Northam's blackface controversy slide. He's a really good Governor.
We are mostly lucky to have good Governors. I think MO was one of the ones that Rachael Madow singled out last night for having done nothing as far as leadership in this crisis. TN was another as well as TX. These states have issued no closings or guidance on how businesses, schools, etc. should conduct themselves. I feel for anyone who is totally without leadership at both the Federal AND State level.
I heard Marco Rubio talking this morning about having the Fed deposit money into local banks that is supposed to go directly to small businesses to make payroll for at least 6 weeks.
It's going to be so much fun laying off my two sons and myself but at least I am a little more certain that a layoff will not mean going out of business.

Action of nearly any kind is warranted. A couple of checks and then reassess.
Cutting off the nose to spite the face.

Way back on 3/21, when the Dems were the ones stalling the checks, they did it for a very good reason. The Reps wanted to make it so that you got $1200 per person IF you owed money to the federal government. If you didn't, the amount was to have been cut in half.
That's out now and rightfully so but the Senate still hasn't worked out a bill. They promised yesterday to work continuously, overnight if required, to work out a bill. The last I heard, they still hadn't. I don't know if they worked through the night or not.
Now the sticking point seems to be the $500 billion dollars that Mnuchin would be able to dole out to big companies pretty much as he sees fit without much oversight at all.
Somehow, however, Senator Rand Paul and a few others found time for a workout in the Senate gym. Paul did so knowing that he had been exposed and while awaiting test results. He tested positive and has taken a handful of other Republicans in the Senate into quarantine with him. His behavior was so irresponsible that he should be imprisoned, imo. He endangered the entire Senate and as a doctor, knew the dangers he was forcing on his colleagues. That sounds like a crime to me and not all that much better than the white supremacists bent on infecting minorities and police.

Everyone In Shelby County is under mandatory shelter in place orders except for essential businesses. My company is considered essential so I guess I don't get to quarantine any more.
