Why are you making less money and paying more taxes?

I made less because of the Covid.
I always pay a higher tax rate because I have no deductions.
By flooding the market with free money it lowers the value of the dollar so by not getting any stimulus I am out the value of the stimulus in lower purchasing power for my dollars.

I don't get it. I made less because I worked less, so I paid less in taxes. I worked less because my clients either shut down or wouldn't allow visitors on site because of Covid.
You worked more, but got paid less and paid more taxes? You get the same standard deduction as everyone else don't you?
So how much are you out in the devaluation of the dollar?

My effective tax rate is over 17% and north of 26% if you include all payroll taxes. The average American has an effective rate of 13.5%. So I pay more of my income in taxes than the average person. A fellow employee in 2019 made $20k more than me but paid less tax because he has kids. He also got the full amount of stimulus this year. I got nothing.
I worked more because everyone that knew someone that got covid got sent home for two weeks with pay while I did their jobs for them. Less time spent on my work resulted in fewer commissions to the tune of about $20k YoY. So I worked a whole lot more and made a whole lot less and pay higher taxes than most, even more than fellow employees that earn more than I do.
Printing more money and sending it out devalues the currency by the amount you print.

So you worked more and got paid less but your taxes weren't increased by Covid. In fact, you paid the same percentage on lower income (maybe even lower), so you paid less money in taxes because of Covid. That was Trump's master plan all along. Let Covid run wild to save the taxpayers money. He says you're welcome.
I wasn't aware of any restrictions on the stimulus checks because of not having kids. I thought it was based on income. If you are a single resident making under $75,000, you qualified for $1200 graduated down to $0 at $99,000. If you've got kids under 16, you got $500 per head. If he was qualified for the full amount, he had to have made less than $75,000 (the same for his wife).
So you went from $55,000 per year to $35,000 and worked longer hours? Given the standard deduction of $12,400 that leaves you with taxable income of $22600 which puts you in the 12% bracket instead of the 22% on $42,800 you were likely hit for last year. That means your tax bill for 2020 should be $2712 instead of the whopping $9416 from 2019. That's a savings of $6704 for you. You should file right away.
I know the effect of printing more money.
What I want to know is what percentage of it do you think comes out of your pocket? I'll bet it comes to less than $6704.

"So you worked more and got paid less but your taxes weren't increased by Covid."
My effective rate is higher than most. That is what I mean when I say I paid more taxes than those getting a stimulus who also made more than I did.
"If he was qualified for the full amount, he had to have made less than $75,000"
Not true. He has kids and a wife and makes over 6 figures and got the stimulus. A person in a similar job, making more money, paying less tax, and still gets stimulus and I get nothing? Good luck trying to convince me this is fair.
"So you went from $55,000 per year to $35,000 and worked longer hours?"
No. That's not even the point.
The point I am making is that you should give the stimulus to everyone because trying to target it leaves people out and includes others in ways that make little sense and appear to be unfair. I took a $20k hit and get no stimulus and others that took no hit or very little hit get stimulus? That makes no sense.
"What I want to know is what percentage of it do you think comes out of your pocket?"
Too soon to say. Right now the money multiplier is at all-time lows. Until that kicks in we won't be able to quantify much of anything. But we do know the basic principle.

"Not true. He has kids and a wife and makes over 6 figures and got the stimulus." Not according to the Dept. of Treasury. home.treasury.gov/policy-issues/cares/assistance-for-american-workers-and-familiesThe poor were hit the hardest and are the least able to absorb the hit. It had to be targeted to them. You're trying to make your point with a bunch of numbers that just don't add up. If you wanted to make the point that everyone should get the stimulus, just say so. Don't throw up a bunch of numbers that don't support your statement. You paid less in taxes if what you say is true. Are you standing in a food line? If not, quit whining.

"Not according to the Dept. of Treasury."
"or $198,000 for joint filers"
Read the damn source before you post it. It was in the first sentence.
"The poor were hit the hardest and are the least able to absorb the hit. It had to be targeted to them."
It wasn't targeted very well. If you can't do it well then just send it to everyone. After all, the goal was stimulus. Lots of people used it for home improvement and that was an added bonus in addition to all the time off they had to got to parties and beaches and protests and spread more virus.
"You're trying to make your point with a bunch of numbers that just don't add up."
My numbers do add up. What part are you misunderstanding?

"Are you standing in a food line? If not, quit whining."
So until the government has worked me and taken my money and given it to Bob next door to the point of putting me in a food line then I just haven't been whipped enough to complain about it and should just shut up?

Sounds like someone needs to start pumping cocks into Robinhood. Get married and poop out some dependents.
Stick it to the man!

My point here is that Bob lives next door. Bob is in the same neighborhood as me so you can figure he is just as well off as I am. But Bob gets government money that I am apparently having to pay for. I'm not particularly fond of Bob and I know Bob does not need any stimulus any more than I do. But Danny is saying unless I am in a food line then I should just shut up and let Bob sit at home while I work to pay his mortgage and improve his house, all because the stimulus was "targeted". How the hell is that targeted? If you can't target any better than that just give it to everyone! How hard is that?

On Dec 31st my cousin's father-in-law died from Covid, and also the wife of my Mother's cousin who lived in Texas died from Covid on the same night. that blows goat. My family lost my aunt 2 months ago. She was 85 with some mitigating circumstances, but she was Covid positive and had the major symptoms.
My ex is almost literally swimming it as a nurse in a nursing home. I get to hear the firsthand horror stories.
That said, I don't mind if politicians keep getting Letlow-ed just for the schadenfreude. I don't have one sense of sorrow for their families either (minus little kids who didn't have a choice on whether to drink the kool-aid or not)

Their ages were 70 and 81 respectively. And the first actually died after midnight so he made it to 2021.
