I recently read two books (The Story of Edgar Sawtelle and Sing, Unburied, Sing) that are critically acclaimed, but tolally pissed me off.
Here's the deal. If if get half way through a book, I am pretty much committed and I do not like suprise attacks by the supernatural. If ghosts are aliens are bright in past the half way point in a book, I am pissed. Unless it is a fantasy book, which I would not have bought in the first place. Edgar Sawtelle and Sing, Unburied, Sing both introduced ghosts around or past the midway part of the book.
These books should either, come with a warning, or be classified as fantasy. And don't tell me about Hamlet. This ain't the 17th century.
I read the Ninth Hour by Alice McDermott. It was good.

In the process of trying to read most of Poe. Just finished Anne Frank. Read a lot of the Michael Lewis books recently.

I was quite disappointed... it's pretty much one of the earliest forms of social media, although to be fair to her, I don't think it was her plan for it to go world wide, even if she was dreaming of becoming an author.
There are definitely some interesting pieces as signs of the times, even if most of it was stuff to be found on facebook.

"Money Ball" is, and likely will be the only thing I read by Lewis.
I have tried to read Poe, but I don't get it. I am not inclined toward poetry or mysteries and his short stories that I have read were a struggle for me to get through.
I wish I appreciated poetry, I just don't have much exposure, and no training in it.

I just got a first Edition because it was a bargain, but I never read the book and probably won't. I read "War and Peace" when I was a teen so I figure that gives me a bye on Anna. My collection has expanded considerably since I was here last. I will post some pics when I figure out how.

I am supposed to be reading this bigass text to prep me for a construction documents technologist certification test. I can't seem to get started.
