I will be honoring our veterans by attending a rousing game of Chicken Splat with Bruce Campbell being the yardbarker.

What you need to do is go to the Indy 500. Nothing can prepare you for the moment those cars pass you at 220mph. The only words you can bring to your lips at that moment have W's and H's and lots of vowels.

That must have been cool. I'm always impressed with how flat they corner, too.
The same kind of thrill goes for NHRA Top Fuel Dragsters but I was on a crew so I got to stand right behind the starting line with Connie Kaletta and Don Prudhome. Then I got to help with the turnaround of an entire rebuild between runs. And I found a leaky fitting on the spark advance system and a bump in the track that cut .050 off my guys 1/4 mile.
When they crack the throttles and you are standing right behind them, there is an unbelievable pressure wave that moves you back and then they are gone.

I like Indy Car because of the road courses and street circuits. Plus, unlike F1, there is parity and great competition.
Not a fan of NASCAR because they mostly do ovals. I get it that the 500 is an oval but the corners are not banked like at Taladega or Daytona, and the cars are going much faster than in NASCAR.
