I think the argument for NASCAR is that closed wheels make for lots of close racing, bumping and wrecks.
I prefer NASCAR because it puts me to sleep faster. Indy car is less likely to interrupt my nap, though.
I would imagine that it's a totally different experience in person, though.

Nitro is even more distinctive. Because I got to be out on the track for the entire time, my crew chief set me up for a first-timer gag. He purposely failed to tell me to wear black shoes and to tighten them up as tight as you can when you go out on the track. It's really hot and sticky and it will pull your shoes right off if you're not ready. MIt didn't take but one step for me to figure it out but I got the look from the real pros. My white shoes didn't stay that way for long, though.
Do you watch Indy racing on TV? I never watch NHRA and neither do the driver or crew chief now that they gave up trying to compete with Budweiser and the Army. It's a rich man's game. You need millions and they had hundreds of thousands of dollars. Plus his wife wouldn't let him return after the last crash.

Well one time, I was at this rocket boat race. These guys go 300 MPH across water. And one of the drivers got killed by a bear right before the race and the owner asked for volunteers to drive his rocket boat. I said &%$ yeah I’ll drive the son of a #%&*. He didn’t think I could do it because I am so fat, but I sucked it in and strapped myself up. I didn’t wear a helmet. I mean, it’s water, right?
So anyway we started like nascar with a single lap following the pace boat, a 22’ Ranger bass boat. I had to go to the back of the pack because of being a substitution, but I was patient and just picked them off one at a time. I got lucky with a couple of cautions and in the end it was a drag race to the finish that I won easily.
No one could believe it, but I told them I cannot do anything without Christ Jesus that lives in my heart.

I do watch IndyCar on TV. I find it to be very exciting. But nothing compares to the live action.
