I worked on a car that ran in that several times. I didn't go to the race but worked on the car before and after. Never got to drive it but it was really fast.
It was a Porsche 962 (I think) with a horizontally opposed 8 cylinder. They finished a couple of times and were running 2nd in their class 21 hours in when the slowest car on the track (McLaren Mustang) wrecked them and the leader in the same incident.
I think it is in a museum somewhere now.

I am going to attempt to be there and awake for the whole thing. My company has their national sales meeting in Orlando the Sunday the race ends. I will drive to Orlando and crash in my Hotel room there and be all fresh and ready for the start of the meeting the next day.
Apparently, after my HR guy approved my arrangements, the company VP of HR threw a fit.
Too bad.

If the VP pitched a fit, then you have done your job. Giving cause for fits provides validation. If you hadn't provided him with the source of a fit, he would have had to waste valuable executive time finding some other cause.
You should get a raise.

2020 Midnight Sun Gambler 500 just got officially got cancelled by last year's organizer. She facilitated getting cars for us US drivers.
Talk is is doing the ring road in $%^box cars.

I'm about 15 hours in at the Rolex 24 hours of Daytona. Getting sleepy, but the noise, oh my.
I'm the only fool left on the roof of the Champions Club. Temps in the mid 40s.
