I got banned from Facebook for calling someone an idiot. I apealed and it was denied.

For years and years I have said much worse, as you can imagine, but in this instance an idiot reported me for calling him an idiot and they snuffed me.

Speaking of science deniers...
I was in the PT room today with about 4-5 others. They managed to turn talk about the weather into first an attack on CNN for their non-stop terror mongering over Dorian which I agreed with, and then into an attack on "global warming". It started out with the typical "idiots who believe in global warming" comment so I immediately was offended, angered and on the defensive.
Being quite angry over being called an idiot for believing just about every scientist in the world, I lit into their ignorant, white, overprivileged asses and it turned into a 4-5 on 1 shoutdown of science versus Trumpism. Science one this one but only because I was a bigger dick.
It's gotten to the point that I don't even want to go out in public because I just don't feel that in my home town (Bert may be able to attest to just how far Richmonders have their heads stuck up their asses) there is a place for independent thought. It's to the point that we have talked about moving to a place that's a little more accepting of liberal ideas like trusting the almost unanimous opinions of scientists that climate change is real, man-made and going to cost us $Trillions. Problem is that I am anchored by my business, children and grandchildren. Life is just not that portable.
More and more often I'm hearing open comments like that, which are made in the expectation that no one within earshot will be offended, much less speak up in opposition.
Do you guys have similar encounters? What do you do-speak out with reason, speak out with kindness, speak out with both, speak out with force, or just sit there and take it?
Reason doesn't seem to work anymore since we can now redefine words, say a lie is the truth, say the truth is a lie, and do it all with impunity thanks to the example set by president.
Kindness just gets you called a snowflake.
Both is worse. They hate a nice, smart guy.
Force makes you just like them and leads to even more division.
Just sitting there and taking it leads to eventual explosions of force like I used today.
Is this really going to turn into a New Civil War?
