Brian Wilson was a genius that mostly stayed at home and wrote/produced hit songs.
The Beach Boys were a touring machine that made a ton of money.
You have to separate the two.
Wilson was strongly influenced by Chuck Barry, the Four Freshman, and Phil Spector.
Stupidhead made an unlearned comment.

Carl Sagan was a huge Chuck Berry fan. just throwing that out there. This is a debate? What is the premise... Beach Boys don't suck? Beach Boys are not as white as they seem? Brian Wilson had a higher power at work? Give me the premise and we can debate. How bout Stones vs. Beach Boys?

Did the Beach Boys do that?

The Stones blues inspiration was actually evident in their music.

The Stones blues inspiration was actually evident in their music. The Beach Boys couldn't poach Blues if you raped their women, stole all their money, and fed them nothing but whisky.

sidenote: going to see Brett Dennon in a couple of months. I first heard him on NPR, thinking it was an aged southern black woman.

Brian Wilson is an American original. Yes.
The guitar in early Beach Boys sounds like Chuck Berry. Chuck must be white.

An American original. bingo. Now we are getting to it.
Name a tune where the Beach Boys ripped off the blues.
I like this discussion.

You don't hear Blues in The Beach Boys because they don't have any. They are lilly white niche music that is irrelevant today.
