Brian Wilson was a genius that mostly stayed at home and wrote/produced hit songs.
The Beach Boys were a touring machine that made a ton of money.
You have to separate the two.
Wilson was strongly influenced by Chuck Barry, the Four Freshman, and Phil Spector.

The guitar in early Beach Boys sounds like Chuck Berry. Chuck must be white.
