The only blues fest worth traveling for here is in Portland. Sadly the lineup blows when compared to previous years. Robert Randolph is the only one I care to see. And I can't stand Beth Hart www.waterfrontbluesfest.com/artists/*whine*

Townes Van Zandt told lots of stories about Lightnin Hopkins whom he played with all the time, but Lightnin never learned his name (or anybody else's). Rex Bell was Lightnin's bass player for over a decade and Townes said it was because they made the same mistakes. Lightnin called Rex, Russ and Rex quit correcting him years earlier. m.youtube.com/watch?v=mxqYEtb3T98

On the Grateful Dead channel on Sirius they have a thing called the Big Steve Hour. Big Steve is Steve Parrish who was one of the main roadies for the Grateful Dead. It's like a one hour long single sentence full of crazy things that happened and the people that did them.
It's very interesting if you like to hear stories about life in the Grateful Dead, the Electric Koolaid Acid Test, Ken Kesey, Neal Cassidy and the like.
I don't see how he remembers all the things he did 50 years ago while really messed up.

Just got tickets to see Alison Krauss and Willie Nelson in Bend, OR.
I doubt I need to bring any weed...

I doubt it either. When he played here the Gov went on his bus and there was something with Willie's namebrand in a picture.
It's always funny to watch real musicians try to play in Willie Standard Time. Tap your toe to that.

It's always funny to watch real musicians try to play in Willie Standard Time. Tap your toe to that. That is largely why Nashville shunned him early on. Producers and lable guys didn't like his "non-standard" delivery on the lyrics. Hell, he plays the same way he sings.

I've seen Willie twice and both times were terrible for reasons beyond Willie's control. Once was in some high school auditorium in NJ. I had no idea it was on a school auditorium or I wouldn't have gone. That just doesn't work. The other time was with Phil Lesh and friends. That didn't work either.
Regarding Alison Krauss, I'd rather have teeth pulled than listen to her saccharine singing.
But have fun!

Undeniable music fact #7:
The Beach Boys are the Greatest American Rock Band of all time.
