I wish it were a fact but he's not an idiot. It would be so much easier if he were but he's just smart enough to create big problems. Things that seem like a good idea to Trump also sound good to his supporters who crave simple solutions to complex (and mostly not understood) problems.
Unfortunately, he's not smart enough to keep his ego in check.

Donald Trump is an idiot. He knows very little about government, the constitution, foreign affairs, and he can't point to New Zealand on a map.
The only thing Trump has is gall and has a crap load of that. And gall alone can take you a long way, but not all the way.

Not knowing those things doesn't make him an idiot. It simply makes him a horrible President.
He knows how to manipulate public opinion better than anybody-except of course his close friend, Vladimir Putin.

Do the media really not want people to understand that tariffs on $100 billion worth of goods do not equal $100 billion? Even the WSJ reports that in their headlines. A person would actually have to read at least the first two paragraphs to understand that.
