"The more we learn about consciousness it starts to appear that this is likely the case."
"Likely" is not proven. It requires some measure of faith to claim there is no life after death.

"If there is no evidence of life after death then there is no reason to believe in life after death. To claim there is requires faith." -To arrive at the affirmative conclusion there is no life after death requires faith as well. Why resort to faith when you can just go where the evidence takes you.

It takes no faith to say that the evidence is compelling that there is no life after death. In any event, just from knowing I am an atheist you cannot know my opinion on life after death, which is the point I have made several times in many clever ways.

No, Wombats do not care. They do not concern themselves with the question of a supreme being. They don't know. Therefore they are not a religion. You cannot know what wombats think about. The consciousness of a wombat is a first person (or first wombat?) ontology. But if they don't believe in a Supreme Being then they are atheists. I stand for the wombat creed!

Which is why you should weigh it and be open to new evidence and facts.
But this has nothing to do with the fact that knowing any given person is an atheist tells you nothing about their views of reincarnation. The only way you can debate life after death with them is for you to ask different questions. The same is not true if you are talking with the Pope. You know where he stands by virtue of his religion.

Wombats require truth. Wombats don't know. I am a wombat.

Okie is basically telling you he thinks culture is religion. Lefty, settle down. I don't hold your religion against you. It's protected by our constitution anyway.
