I would think that it is just a generational association with those guys, but you are quite a bit younger than me I think. Were you even alive when any of these guys played?
Plus, these guys were not just good players who are considered great by baby boomers waxing nostalgic. They weren't made-for-tv stars, either. These were all the genuine item.

I remember Morgan and Seaver both with the Reds as I started watching baseball around 78-79 when I would have been around 5 years old. I remember Morgan playing for the Giants later and I remember Seaver with the White Sox. Collected their baseball cards.
